Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

SFBT is a time-limited therapy that usually lasts between 5 and 20 sessions. It is based on the belief that people have the ability to solve their own problems and that they have the strengths and resources necessary to do so. The therapist’s role is to help clients identify their strengths and resources, and to help them develop solutions to their problems.

The therapy is solution-focused, which means that it is future-oriented and goal-directed. The therapist helps the client identify their desired future outcome, and then works with them to develop a plan to achieve that outcome. This approach is different from traditional therapy, which tends to focus on the client’s past experiences and problems.
