Somatic Therapy – Transformational Bodywork

Transformational Bodywork is a unique blend of deep tissue and subtle body-work with holistic body re-education that realigns the body, corrects postural imbalances and facilitates release of chronic stress and tensions. Transformational bodywork is of benefit to every body. It can be seen as part of one’s health management.

Transformational bodywork, as envisioned by Deva Daricha, invites us to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery and healing through the sacred temple of our bodies. It recognizes that our bodies are not just physical entities but vessels of consciousness, holding within them the keys to our liberation and transformation.

At the heart of transformational bodywork is the understanding that our bodies are repositories of memories, emotions, and energetic imprints. Through deep presence and intentional touch, we can access the hidden realms of the body and unravel the layers of conditioning, trauma, and tension that may be limiting our vitality and well-being.

Transformational bodywork encourages us to cultivate a deep reverence for our bodies and to listen attentively to their whispers of wisdom. It invites us to develop a conscious relationship with our physical sensations, movements, and breath, recognizing them as gateways to deeper levels of self-awareness and healing.

One of the primary aims of this approach is the release and integration of stored tension and stagnant energy. Our bodies can become vessels for unexpressed emotions, traumas, and unconscious patterns that impede our growth and hinder our ability to experience joy and wholeness. Through skilful touch, breathwork, movement, and other somatic practices, we can gently facilitate the release of these blockages, creating spaciousness and restoring the body’s natural flow of energy.

Transformational bodywork also emphasizes the importance of reconnecting with the primal wisdom of the body and grounding ourselves in the present moment. In today’s fast-paced world, we often find ourselves disconnected from our bodies and living predominantly in our heads. Through practices such as mindful movement, conscious touch, and embodiment exercises, we can re-establish a profound connection with our physicality, reawakening our senses and deepening our embodied presence.

Furthermore, transformational bodywork acknowledges the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. It recognizes that our bodies are sacred vessels that house our essence and connect us to the greater fabric of existence. By engaging in transformative body-centred practices, we can access higher states of consciousness, unlock our innate wisdom, and align ourselves with the divine essence that permeates all aspects of life.

In summary, transformational bodywork, as envisioned by Deva Daricha, is an invitation to embark on a sacred journey of self-discovery and healing through the gateway of our bodies. It emphasizes deep presence, intentional touch, and the release of tension and stagnant energy. By cultivating a conscious relationship with our bodies and honoring their inherent wisdom, we can awaken our true potential, restore balance and vitality, and reconnect with the profound interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit.

Stress

Stress you have not been able to release or resolve is internalised. The memory of these experiences can crystallise in the body’s tissues in many ways, such as muscular tightness, body pains and inhibited breathing. Transformational Bodywork aims to release stress by releasing fascia (connective tissue).

Traumatic Events

Your body remembers everything you have ever experienced and unconsciously stores it in the body’s organic mind. These body memories, often outside your awareness, influence your thinking, emotions, and behaviour. They may limit your capacity to give and receive love and trust your judgement. Transformational Bodywork releases these holdings through deep tissue and subtle energy bodywork. The body restores its balance, flow, and harmony.

Chronic Pain

Stuck traumatic life experiences become part of the body fascia (network of connective tissue). It can cause tension and tightness in the fascial tissue, potentially leading to restrictions in movement, muscle imbalances, and chronic pain patterns. Additionally, prolonged stress and trauma can disrupt the autonomic nervous system, leading to increased muscle tension, further contributing to fascial pain and discomfort. Transformational Bodywork works on the fascia to release pain and trauma held.

Postural Imbalances

When fascia becomes tight or restricted due to old injury, trauma, repetitive movements, or prolonged poor posture, it can create tension in certain areas, leading to postural deviations. Transformational Bodywork therapist applies direct pressure and contact with fascia to correct posture by fascial releasing fascia. Released fascial adhesions can improve tissue flexibility, positively affecting posture.

Wellness

The release of fascia by a Transformational Bodywork therapist can contribute to overall wellness in several ways:

  1. Pain relief
  2. Improved posture
  3. Enhanced flexibility and range of motion
  4. Stress reduction
  5. Enhanced circulation and lymphatic flow
  6. Nervous system regulation
  7. Athletic performance
  8. Mind-body connection
  9. Improving chronic conditions

It’s essential to approach fascial release as part of a comprehensive wellness plan that includes proper nutrition, regular exercise, stress management, and appropriate psychological and medical care.

Transformational Bodywork is usually offered as a series of 12 x 90 minute sessions.

Sessions 1 – 3
Beginning of the initial opening, releasing inhibited patterns of breathing, inviting more vital organic life-force and enabling the rediscovery of the flow of feeling life in the body.

Sessions 4 – 6
Deep work to release holdings in the musculature and attachments to the pelvis, lower back, belly and legs. As the lower body is the foundation of the whole, this enables a gradual recovery of our natural ease of movement, flexibility and grace.

Session 7
Releasing and balancing the neck, skull and face enables the intellect to assume it’s proper place serving our knowing not overriding it.

Session 8 – 9
Individualised analysis and specific work to integrate the top and bottom halves of the body.

Sessions 10 – 12
These subtle bodywork sessions can release holdings through the entire digestive tract. This enables healing of incomplete aspects of early development and unfolding. These sessions can also clear aspects of the past that inhibit experiencing bliss and connection to higher consciousness.
